[接続詞の種類]
  • I need a new refrigerator because mine is broken.
  • As our local shop was closed, I have to go a supermarket two miles away.
  • Since it was cold, we made a fire.
  • Now that we are all part of the global village, everyone becomes a neighbor.

[because節とセットで使われる副詞]
becauseは程度を表す副詞とセットでよく使われる。
  • Many exam candidates lose marks simply because they do not read the questions properly. (simply because)
  • No one else took much notice of him, partly because he took no notice of them. (partly because)
  • Classification is difficult, mainly because it seems to contain incorrect samples. (mainly because)
  • I was sacked only because I was a few minutes late for work on a few occasions. (only because)
  • Just because I'm crying, it doesn't mean I'm sad. (just because)
  • You should never look down on a man merely because he is poor. (merely because)
  • That is chiefly because most of us experience violence through the prism of a movie or a television screen. (chiefly because)
